Topaz Lighting 45 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Do I need to order different grommet sizes for different metal stud knockouts?
No. The Topaz 45 stud grommet is molded in one universal size that fits standard stud hole sizes, so you carry one part number instead of a size run on the van.
2) Do stud grommets need a tool or adhesive to install?
No tools. The Topaz 45 grommet snaps into the stud knockout by hand, which is why crews can run a whole wall of studs quickly before pulling wire.
3) What are Topaz stud grommets actually made of, and will they corrode in a damp wall cavity?
They are molded from 6/6 nylon, which is corrosion-proof and lightweight. Nylon won't rust the way a metal bushing can, and the material carries high tensile strength with wear and abrasion resistance so it holds up where cable rubs the edge of the hole.
4) Can I use these grommets for low-voltage cable as well as branch circuit wiring?
Yes. The Topaz 45 grommet is a mechanical bushing that lines the stud hole, so it protects both low-voltage and line-voltage runs passing through light-gauge steel framing.
5) What is the Topaz part number for nylon stud grommets?
Order Topaz model 45. That is the single model covering the universal-size 6/6 nylon stud grommet.
6) Are stud grommets worth using on a retrofit, or only new construction?
Both. Because the Topaz 45 snaps in without tools, it goes into existing stud knockouts during renovation and retrofit work as readily as it does on new commercial or residential builds.
