Sure-Loc Forma Sideplate Entry Lockset

The Sure-Loc Forma sideplate entry lockset combines a keyed lever and single-cylinder deadbolt on one tall rectangular sideplate, giving an exterior door a clean modern look in one piece. The deadbolt has a solid brass housing and a cut-resistant bolt with hardened steel rolling inserts, keyed KW1 (SC1 available). The lever handing is reversible and the latches adjust to a 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60-70mm) backset, fitting doors 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" (45-55mm) thick. A square-corner latch and strike pack (STRDB-SQPK) is available.

Forma is part of Sure-Loc's Ridgecrest collection: a modular rectangular rosette that pairs with your choice of lever grip. Choose the rosette finish (Satin Nickel, Polished Chrome, Flat Black or Satin Brass), then the grip style (Knurled, Straight Knurled, Smooth, Vertex or Walnut) and grip finish. Grips and rosettes are finished separately, so two-tone combinations are available. Each handle is built to order and assembled before shipping.

Sure-Loc FR307 15-GRIP KN 15 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Forma lockset work with a 2-3/4 inch backset, or is it 2-3/8 only?
Both. The latches on the Forma sideplate set adjust to either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60-70mm), so it drops onto either of the two standard bored preps without ordering a different latch.
2) Can I key the Forma entry set to my existing Kwikset keys?
The Forma sideplate set ships KW1 keyway as standard, which is the Kwikset profile, so it can be keyed into a KW1 system. SC1 is also available if the building is on Schlage-profile residential keys. It is a single-cylinder deadbolt, so key outside, thumbturn inside.
3) What do I actually have to choose when ordering a Sure-Loc Forma sideplate lockset?
Three decisions. Sideplate finish: Satin Nickel (15), Polished Chrome (26), Flat Black (FBL) or Satin Brass (SB). Grip style: Knurled, Straight Knurled, Smooth, Vertex or Walnut. Then the grip finish, in the same four metal options. Plates and grips are finished separately, so a two-tone build such as a black plate with a satin brass grip is a normal order, not a special.
4) Is the Sure-Loc Forma sideplate entry set rated for a commercial opening?
It is a residential product. The Forma is a tubular bored lockset built for house and condo entry doors. For a commercial or institutional opening with traffic and code requirements, look at a Grade 1 cylindrical set like the Falcon K101 or the Corbin Russwin CL3100 Series instead.
5) My door is 1-3/8 inch thick - will the Forma sideplate entry lockset fit, and what else works?
The Forma FR307 fits doors 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch thick, so a 1-3/8 inch door is below its range. Peers that reach 1-3/8 inch include the Deltana 6201 Manchester and 6431 Linstead lever entry sets at 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, the Cal-Royal AUS00 entrance/office lever at 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch, and the Hager 2525 entry lock at 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch.
6) What is the closest alternative to the Sure-Loc Forma sideplate entry lockset if I want a keyed lever and deadbolt combination from another brand?
The Sure-Loc Forma FR307 pairs a keyed entry lever with a single-cylinder deadbolt on one rectangular sideplate. The Callan Bennett CLN-BN3001R is a Grade 3 entrance leverset supplied as a deadbolt combo, so it covers the same lever-plus-deadbolt opening. The difference is the trim: the Forma carries both functions on a single tall sideplate, while the Bennett is a combo set of separate lever and deadbolt trim.
7) I only need a keyed entry lever without a deadbolt - what should I order instead of the Forma sideplate set?
The Forma FR307 is built as an entry lever with a deadbolt on one plate, so if the door already has a deadbolt you are paying for trim you cannot use. Keyed-lever-only options include the Hager 2525 Grade 2 cylindrical entry lock with lever handle, the Cal-Royal AUS00 Grade 3 entrance/office lever, and the Deltana 6201 Manchester lever entry.
8) Can I use the Sure-Loc Forma sideplate entry lockset on a commercial door that needs a Grade 1 lever?
The Forma FR307 is classified as residential hardware. For a commercial opening specified Grade 1 with a keyed lever, look at the Dexter C1000 series - the classroom C1000-CLRM and classroom security C1000-CSEC are Grade 1 keyed cylindrical lever locks. The Hager 2580 with Withnell lever is a Grade 2 storeroom function, and the Cal-Royal AG05 is a Grade 2 storeroom lever with a deadlocking latchbolt.
9) Do I need to specify handing for the Sure-Loc Forma lever?
No handing call-out is needed. The lever is reversible in the field, so one part number covers a left- or right-hand door.
10) My door frame has square-corner mortises for the latch and strike. Is that covered?
Yes, a square-corner latch and strike pack is offered under part STRDB-SQPK for the Forma sideplate set. Order it alongside the lockset if your existing preps are square rather than radius corner.
11) How is the Forma sideplate different from a separate lever and deadbolt on the same door?
The Forma FR307 puts the keyed lever and the single-cylinder deadbolt on one tall rectangular plate, so the exterior face reads as a single piece of hardware instead of two escutcheons. If you would rather run a separate lever and bolt, a rose-mounted entry lever such as the Callan Bennett entrance leverset with deadbolt combo or the Deltana 6201 Manchester entry lever is the other approach.
12) How secure is the deadbolt on the Sure-Loc Forma entry set?
The deadbolt uses a solid brass housing and a cut-resistant bolt with hardened steel rolling inserts, which spin against a saw blade rather than letting it bite. That is the security feature on this set; everything else is standard tubular bored construction.
13) I need the interior doors to match the Forma sideplate entry lever - what passage and privacy sets pair with it?
The Forma FR307 is a keyed exterior function, so interior doors need separate passage and privacy trim. Matching-style options in the same square or rectangular idiom include the Bravura Tampa BVR-BV333702 passage leverset with square trim, Grade 2. For round trim, the Bravura Atlanta BVR-BV333002 and Orlando BVR-BV333602 are Grade 2 passage leversets, and the Kwikset 300BRNL Breton is a Grade 3 privacy lever set. Trim shape and finish should be confirmed against the Forma sideplate finish you choose.
14) What is the difference between the Sure-Loc Forma sideplate entry lockset and an escutcheon lever trim like the Imperial ED-EL500HD?
They are not interchangeable. The Forma FR307 is a complete tubular bored lockset - keyed lever plus single-cylinder deadbolt with latches and a KW1 cylinder. The Imperial USA ED-EL500HD is heavy duty escutcheon lever trim in entry function from the ED-500 series, which is trim for an exit device rather than a standalone bored lock. The Corbin Russwin 585F715 lock lever is likewise trim for the ED8000 pushpad exit device.
15) I want keyless entry on the front door instead of the Forma keyed sideplate set - what are my options?
The Forma FR307 is a keyed set on the KW1 keyway with SC1 available. If you would rather not carry a key, the Delaney LP250 is a Grade 2 electronic keypad leverlock, the Emtek Classic keypad leverset covers the same door with a code, and the Lockey 1150 is a heavy duty mechanical keypad lever set with double combination fitting doors 1-1/8 inch to 2 inch.
16) My master key system is Schlage C - does the Forma sideplate entry lockset work, or should I choose a different lever?
The Forma FR307 ships KW1 with SC1 available, so it can be ordered to a Kwikset or Schlage keyway. If you prefer a lever factory-cut to a 6-pin Schlage C keyway, the Cal-Royal AG00 entrance lever and AG03 classroom lever are supplied 6-pin Schlage C keyed different, and the Arrow MK33-BD-CS uses a conventional cylinder in Schlage C.
17) If I am outfitting several units, can I match the Forma to other Sure-Loc hardware?
The Forma is part of Sure-Loc's Ridgecrest collection, which uses a modular rectangular rosette that takes your choice of lever grip. Specify the same plate finish and grip style across the openings and the entry doors will read the same as the rest of the Ridgecrest hardware on the job. Each handle is assembled to order, so keep the finish codes consistent across the purchase order.
18) Is there an electronic or keypad version of this Sure-Loc entry set?
No, the Forma sideplate set is mechanical only, keyed with a cylinder and a thumbturn. If the opening needs code entry, the Emtek Classic Keypad Leverset or the Delaney LP250 electronic keypad leverlock are the keypad options.
19) Is there a dummy lever I can use on the inactive leaf of a double door alongside the Forma sideplate entry lockset?
The Forma FR307 is an operating keyed entry function and is not offered as a non-operating trim, so an inactive leaf needs a dedicated dummy. Options include the Baldwin Estate 5103 half dummy in left hand (BAL-5103-LDM) or right hand (BAL-5103-RDM), the Callan Bentley CLN-BN5051 Grade 2 dummy lever, and the BEST 9K series 1DT single dummy trim, a Grade 1 heavy duty non-keyed lever.
