Tell L2080 - Grade 2 Storeroom Lever Lockset

The outside lever stays rigid at all times, so the door is always locked from the corridor side. A key in the outside lever retracts the latchbolt, and the inside lever always turns freely for free egress. The latchbolt is deadlocking. That is ANSI function F86, the usual choice for storage rooms, mechanical rooms, and janitor closets where the door must never be left unlocked.

Both backsets are offered. The 2-3/4 inch backset is the standard commercial cross-bore location, and a 2-3/8 inch version is available for doors bored to the shallower residential dimension. Measure from the door edge to the center of the existing bore before you pick, because the two are not interchangeable in an already-prepped door.

For heavier use, the Dexter C1000 asylum/utility lock is Grade 1 and covers 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch doors, the same thickness span as the Grade 2 Tell L2080. The Arrow MK33-BD-CS is a Grade 2 asylum/institution/utility cylindrical lock rated heavy duty with a Schlage C keyway cylinder, matching the Schlage C keying the L2080 uses. Note that both asylum functions key both sides, so neither leaves an always-free inside lever the way the L2080 storeroom function does.

Storeroom function on the Tell L2080 keeps the outside lever permanently fixed, so it cannot be left unlocked for business hours. For that, an entrance/office function is the right call: the Hager 2525 is a Grade 2 commercial cylindrical entry lever for 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch doors, and the Falcon B511CP6D is a Grade 2 entry/office cylindrical lever. Both are passage functions, so specify the keyed version of that series if the opening also needs the key control the Tell L2080 provides through its 6-pin Schlage C cylinder.
