IDEAL Industries 89-304 Terminal Strip, 4-Pole, 22-14 AWG

The 89-304 takes copper conductors from 22 AWG up to 14 AWG. That covers most control, signal, and low-voltage wiring plus light branch work in that range. It is copper only, so aluminum conductors are out.

9 inch-pounds on the terminal screws. They are #6-32 Philslot zinc-plated steel, so a driver with a torque setting or a small torque screwdriver gets you there without stripping the thread or crushing the conductor. Under-torqued screws on a control panel are the usual cause of a nuisance intermittent.

Four poles, so four separate two-screw connection points. If you need more circuits than that, you either gang additional strips or step up to a higher pole count in the same IDEAL barrier strip family.

Either works. The #6-32 screws accept a ring or spade terminal crimped for a #6 stud, and bare stripped copper in the 22 to 14 AWG range lands under the screw head directly. Rings are the better choice on anything subject to vibration since they cannot back out if a screw loosens.

The screws, surface plates, and optional hardware are corrosion-resistant and the terminal screws are zinc-plated steel, with a polyester thermoplastic base rather than a phenolic one. That combination handles a mechanical or utility space better than bare steel hardware, but the strip is an open barrier strip, not a sealed device, so it still belongs inside an enclosure.
