Metallics SMXK1 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics SMXK1 used for?
The SMXK1 is a threaded rod steel-deck installation tool, zinc plated. It's the driver tool used to set threaded rod hangers into steel deck, rather than a hanger or rod itself. Electrical contractors reach for it when hanging conduit, strut, or fixture supports off a steel roof deck.
2) Does the Metallics SMXK1 come with threaded rod or hangers?
No. The SMXK1 is the install tool only, supplied one per bag. The threaded rod and the deck hangers it drives have to be ordered separately.
3) What part number do I give my supplier for the Metallics steel deck threaded rod tool?
Order it by manufacturer part number SMXK1 from Metallics. That's the full designation, there are no size or finish variations to specify.
4) How is the Metallics SMXK1 install tool packaged and sold?
It ships as a bagged item, one tool to a bag. If you're kitting out several crews for a deck-hanging job, order one per installer.
