1) Do I have to thread the conduit to use a Topaz 270 series Rigid/IMC connector?
No threading required. The Topaz malleable iron Rigid/IMC connectors are threadless and use a compression-type assembly, so you cut the rigid or IMC conduit to length and clamp it in. That saves the threader on retrofit work and on cut-back runs where you can't get a die on the pipe.
2) Can these Topaz compression connectors be poured into concrete?
Yes. The compression assembly gives a concrete-tight fit, which is what lets the fitting be embedded in a pour or masonry without wet concrete working into the raceway. They're UL Listed as well. Note that concrete-tight is not the same rating as raintight or wet-location, so don't substitute them on that basis.
3) Will a Topaz 270 series compression connector work on EMT?
No. These are built for rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) only. EMT has a thinner wall and a different outside diameter, so it won't seat correctly in the compression body. Use an EMT-rated compression connector for thin-wall.
