TOTO THP5317#BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is TOTO THP5317#BN the diverter valve itself or just a tool?
It's the hex wrench only, not a diverter valve or trim kit. Ordering THP5317#BN gets you the 2.5mm key that goes with TOTO shower and tub diverter service; the diverter body, cartridge and handle are separate items. Property managers replacing a failed diverter should order the diverter part and treat this as the wrench that comes with it.
2) What is the TOTO THP5317#BN 2.5mm hex wrench used for?
It's a 2.5mm hex (Allen) key supplied as a TOTO service part for shower and tub diverter work. The small hex size is what you need to loosen or tighten the set screw on diverter trim rather than a general-purpose tool. If you're servicing a TOTO diverter and the handle or trim is held by a small socket set screw, this is the driver size that part calls for.
3) What does the #BN suffix mean on TOTO part THP5317#BN?
On TOTO part numbers the code after the # is the finish designation, so THP5317#BN is the Brushed Nickel version of the THP5317 part. When you're matching other trim in the same bath, order the suffix that matches the rest of the TOTO trim on that opening; the base number THP5317 stays the same across finishes.
