TOTO TEU1LAI422#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO TEU1LAI422#CP a urinal flush valve or a water closet flush valve?
It's a urinal flush valve. The TEU1LAI422#CP is an exposed electronic flush valve rated at 0.5 gallons per flush, which is a urinal flush volume, not a water closet volume. If you're replacing a valve on a floor-mounted or wall-hung toilet, this is the wrong part.
2) Will the TOTO TEU1LAI422#CP work on a 1.0 gpf urinal?
No. This valve flushes at 0.5 gallons, so it has to be paired with a urinal fixture rated for 0.5 gpf. Putting a 0.5 gallon valve on a fixture designed for a full gallon can leave the trapway short of the carry it needs. Match the valve volume to the stamped rating on the urinal.
3) Is this TOTO urinal flush valve exposed or concealed behind the wall?
Exposed. The TEU1LAI422#CP mounts on the finished wall above the urinal with the valve body and sensor visible, so the rough-in is a stub-out rather than a wall carrier chase with an access panel. If your spec calls for a concealed valve with the sensor plate flush to the tile, this isn't it.
4) Is the TOTO TEU1LAI422#CP a sensor flush valve or a manual handle?
It's electronic, not a manual lever. TOTO's EFV line is sensor-actuated, so the user never touches the valve, which is why these get specified for high-traffic public restrooms where hands-free operation and vandal resistance matter more than a repairable handle assembly.
5) I manage several buildings - can I use this one valve across all my urinals?
Only where the urinals are 0.5 gpf and the plumbing comes through the finished wall for an exposed valve. Those two conditions are what rule it in or out, and they vary fixture to fixture in older buildings. Where you have concealed rough-ins or 1.0 gallon urinals, you'll be ordering a different valve for those openings.
6) What finish does the TEU1LAI422#CP come in?
Polished chrome. The #CP suffix on the TOTO part number is polished chrome, which is what matches most commercial washroom trim already in place. It's the only finish on this model number, so if a facility is standardizing on brushed or matte trim you'd be specifying a different valve.
