TOTO THP5289#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the TOTO THP5289#CP part?
THP5289#CP is a TOTO ball joint repair part for a 1.75 GPM showerhead, supplied in polished chrome (#CP) to match the chrome trim it mounts to. It is the pivoting connection piece between the shower arm and the head, not a complete showerhead.
2) Do I need to replace the whole shower head if the ball joint is leaking or won't hold position?
No. The THP5289#CP is sold as a standalone TOTO service part, so a ball joint that drips at the swivel or will not stay aimed can be swapped without buying a new head. Property managers servicing a run of identical TOTO 1.75 GPM showers can stock this one part number instead of replacing fixtures.
3) Will the TOTO THP5289#CP ball joint work on a 2.5 GPM shower head?
It is specified as a 1.75 GPM ball joint, so order it for a 1.75 GPM TOTO shower head. For a higher flow head, match the ball joint TOTO lists for that flow rate rather than substituting this one.
4) What finish does the THP5289#CP come in, and will it match my chrome shower trim?
Only polished chrome. TOTO's #CP suffix on THP5289#CP is their polished chrome code, so it matches TOTO chrome shower trim on the same opening. There is no brushed nickel or bronze version of this part number; a different suffix would be a different part.
