TOTO THP4955#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is TOTO THP4955#CP, the lock or just the trim plate?
THP4955#CP is a service part: an escutcheon (the trim plate) supplied with its gasket. You are buying the cover plate and the sealing gasket, not a valve, cartridge, or trim handle. If what failed is the valve itself, the escutcheon won't correct it.
2) Does the TOTO escutcheon come with the gasket, or do I order that separately?
The gasket is included. THP4955#CP ships as the escutcheon with its gasket, so you have the sealing piece that goes between the plate and the finished wall in one order. Mounting screws and the valve trim are not part of this part number.
3) What finish is TOTO THP4955#CP escutcheon?
The #CP suffix on TOTO part numbers is polished chrome, so THP4955#CP is the polished chrome version of the escutcheon. It is the only finish offered under this part number, so if the rest of your trim is brushed nickel or matte black you need the corresponding TOTO suffix instead.
4) I manage apartments and the chrome wall plate behind the shower handle is cracked. Can I just replace that piece?
Yes, that is what this part is for. TOTO sells the escutcheon as a stand-alone replacement with a fresh gasket, so a cracked or corroded plate can be swapped without pulling the valve or opening the wall. Match the TOTO part number for your trim series, since escutcheons are shape-specific to the trim they were built for, and confirm your other openings are polished chrome before standardizing on #CP.
