Trimco 1820 Integrated Push & Pull Plate Combo

Two sizes cover the 1820 Series. The 1820-1 is a 3-1/2 x 16-1/2 inch plate and the 1820-11 is 8 x 16-1/2 inch, both in 1/8 inch heavy gauge. The 8 inch wide version gives you far more push surface and covers more of the door face, which is what you want where carts and hand trucks hit the door. The 3-1/2 inch is the choice on narrow stile doors or where you only need the pull and a hand-width push area.

ADA compliant, with 1-1/8 inch clearance behind the pull. That is the gap between the back of the grip and the plate face, so a gloved hand or a closed fist clears it without pinching, and the pull can be operated without tight grasping or twisting.

They are not the same part. The Trimco 1820 is a 1/8 inch stainless steel, brass or bronze combo push/pull plate that can be ordered with optional cylinder or special cutouts, so the cylinder sits within a full push plate. The Cal-Royal PUL-175 is a night latch cylinder pull, 3-1/2 inch height, in stainless steel construction, built around the cylinder itself rather than providing a push face. If the door needs both a protected push face and a cylinder opening, the 1820 with its cutout option is the one to spec; if you only need a grip at the cylinder, the PUL-175 covers that.

The Trimco 1820 integrates the pull into a heavy duty push plate, so one piece covers both the push face and the grip. If you would rather mount a standalone pull, the Ives 8103HD is a heavy duty straight door pull with a 1 inch round bar and through bolt mounting, and the Ives 8102HD is a heavy duty straight pull with a 3/4 inch round bar and 1-1/2 inch clearance. Those give you the grip only, so the door face behind the hand stays exposed to fingerprints and abuse unless you add a push plate on the opposite side.

The Trimco 1820 is ADA compliant with 1-1/8 inch clearance behind the pull. Where the opening calls for an offset grip rather than an integrated plate, the Ives 8145EZHD is a 45 degree offset door pull with heavy duty mounting hardware and is ADA compliant, and the Ives 8169 is a C style offset solid pull at 1 inch diameter with heavy duty mounting. The ABH AB3310 and AB3330 are also offset pulls, the AB3310 with flat ends and the AB3330 with round ends and custom length options.

The Trimco 1820 is a single side combo plate, one piece per door face. If the opening needs a grip on both faces from one set, the Deltana OHP620 off-set handle pull ships as a back to back set and fits doors 1-1/8 inch to 1-3/8 inch thick, and the Deltana SSPOBB24 and SSPORBB24 are 24 inch back to back pulls. The Deltana SSP1210 is single side, like the 1820. The Ives 8103HD and ABH AB7200 use through bolt mounting, the AB7200 being solid stainless steel at 7/8 inch diameter.

One piece, one set of fasteners, one prep. The 1820 integrates the pull into the push plate, so on a door that gets pushed one way and pulled the other you are mounting a single 1/8 inch plate rather than lining up a pull and a plate separately. It also removes the exposed pull posts that get pried on. If you only need a grip and no plate behind it, a straight bar pull like the Ives 8103HD or the ABH AB3300 is the simpler part.

That is the door it is built for. The 1820 is 1/8 inch stainless steel, brass or bronze, made in the US, and Trimco points it at back-of-house openings where vandalism is a concern. The plate itself takes the impact instead of the door face, and there is no thin cover to dent.

Both are available on the 1820. Trimco will engrave PUSH, PULL, or custom text, and optional cylinder or special cutouts can be ordered. The cylinder cutout is what you specify when the door carries a night latch or a cylinder that has to come through the plate, so nail that down with the order rather than trying to cut a 1/8 inch plate in the field.

Eight finishes, and both plate sizes come in all of them: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 622 matte black, 629 bright stainless, 630 satin stainless, and 710CU Healthy Hardware Steralloy Silver. For a building already standardized on satin stainless commercial trim, 630 is the match.

1-1/8 inch is what the 1820 gives. If your crew is in heavy winter or utility gloves and you want more room, a bar pull with greater clearance is the move, such as the Ives 8102HD, a heavy duty straight pull with a 3/4 inch round bar and 1-1/2 inch clearance. You lose the push plate, so pair it with a separate plate on the push face.

The Trimco 1820 is available in the 710CU Healthy Hardware Steralloy Silver finish across both the 3-1/2 inch and 8 inch plate widths, alongside 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 622 matte black, 629 bright stainless and 630 satin stainless. Among the alternatives, the Emtek Art Nouveau pull is lost wax cast bronze and the ABH AB7200 is solid stainless steel, both material choices rather than a copper alloy touch surface. For a commercial healthcare opening where the touch surface is the deciding factor, the 1820 in 710CU addresses it directly and covers the push face as well as the grip.

The ABH AB3300 is a straight flat end pull handle at 1 inch diameter for commercial doors, a grip on standoffs. The Trimco 1820 is a combo push/pull plate in 1/8 inch stainless steel, brass or bronze that puts the pull into the plate body, which is why it suits back of house doors where vandalism is a concern. It can also be engraved with PUSH, PULL or custom text. If the opening only needs a handhold, the AB3300 or the flat end ABH AB3310 offset version is the simpler part; if the door face itself takes abuse, the plate is doing work a bare pull does not.

710CU is Trimco's Healthy Hardware finish, a copper-based Steralloy alloy offered on both the 3-1/2 inch and 8 inch 1820 plates. It is the option specified on touch surfaces in healthcare, senior living, schools and food service, which is exactly where a push/pull plate lives. Order it as the finish code; nothing else about the plate changes.

The 1820 is a single-side plate, so it goes on the push side of the opening and the integrated pull serves the pull direction from that same face. If you want a grip on both faces of the door, that is a back-to-back set, and pulls like the Deltana SSPOBB24 or the OHP620 are sold that way instead.

The Trimco 1820 is a commercial part, 1/8 inch heavy gauge stainless steel, brass or bronze built for public buildings, government and military facilities, retail, and multifamily openings. For a decorative entry, the Emtek 8 inch pulls read differently: the Art Nouveau is lost wax cast bronze with handing to select, and the Baden, Brisbane and Arts and Crafts pulls come in their own design series. The Deltana SSP1210 12 inch contemporary pull is another single side option with a modern profile.
