Trimco 3920-8A- 8" Long with Angle Strike

It's a heavy-duty Dutch door bolt, 8 inches long, supplied with an angle strike. Dutch door bolts are surface mounted and used to lock the two leaves of a Dutch door together, or to hold an inactive leaf on a pair. Body is cast brass or bronze, and Trimco lists it for commercial work: public buildings, commercial and industrial, government and military, retail, and multifamily.

Throw is 1/2 inch. That is a short throw, so the strike has to sit close to the bolt, and the 3920-8A ships with an angle strike for that reason. If your old bolt used a flat surface strike or a mortised strike, plan on installing the angle strike that comes with this bolt rather than reusing the existing one.

The 3920 Series is made in 4-1/2 inch and 8 inch; the 3920-8A is the 8 inch. Go longer when you want more reach across the meeting rail of a Dutch door or a taller plate for appearance and rigidity on a heavy door. The 4-1/2 inch suits tighter rails and lighter doors.

Five: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 625 bright chrome, and 626 satin chrome. If you are matching existing hardware in a building, 626 satin chrome is the usual commercial standard and 613 the common dark finish. All five are architectural BHMA finish numbers, so they line up with hinges, pulls, and locksets already specified in those numbers.

Trimco lists the 3920-8A as ADA compliant. Keep in mind that on an accessible route the mounting height still has to fall within reach range, so where you locate the bolt on the door matters as much as the bolt itself.

Yes. The 3920 Series is offered with multiple strike options, and Trimco also lists custom options for the series. The 3920-8A specifically is the 8 inch bolt packaged with the angle strike, which is what you want when the bolt shoots into a surface set at an angle to the bolt rather than square to it.

The spec line reads overall length 4-1/4 inch, while the model designation and series description call out the 8 inch size. Treat the 8 inch as the bolt size you are ordering; the 4-1/4 inch figure refers to a component measurement, not the plate. If you are laying out door prep to the millimeter, work off the 8 inch bolt body.

Commercial. The 3920 Series is cast brass or bronze rather than stamped steel and Trimco classes it as commercial door hardware, which is why it turns up on government, retail, and multifamily jobs. It will work on a residential Dutch door, it is simply heavier than what that door needs.
