B-LINE 7563PMURN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the B-Line 7563PMURN capacitor bank come with its own fusing?
No. The 7563PMURN is a non-fused UNIPAK bank, so overcurrent protection has to come from upstream. You will need to feed it from a fused disconnect or breaker sized for the bank's 73.50A rating plus the capacitor continuous-duty margin your local code requires. If you want protection built into the enclosure, specify a fused version instead.
2) Can this B-Line UNIPAK capacitor bank be mounted outdoors?
Yes. The 7563PMURN enclosure is rated NEMA 1 and 3R, so it is suitable for indoor use and for outdoor rain-tight locations. The housing is 14 gauge steel with a powder coat finish. NEMA 3R does not cover washdown or dust-tight areas, so a wet process room or a dusty mill would need a different enclosure type.
3) Will the B-Line 7563PMURN work on a 480V three-phase system?
Yes. It is rated to 600V three-phase, which covers 480V and 600V distribution. Keep in mind the 75 kVAR figure is the 240V rating, and the delivered kVAR changes with the applied voltage, so confirm the correction you get at your actual system voltage before sizing.
4) What size feeder and disconnect do I need for a 75 kVAR B-Line 7563PMURN capacitor bank?
Size the circuit off the bank's 73.50A rating at 600V three-phase. Capacitor circuits are sized above the rated current per NEC, so the conductors, disconnect and overcurrent device need to be rated accordingly, and since the 7563PMURN is non-fused all of that protection sits upstream of the enclosure.
5) How much wall space and support does the 7563PMURN capacitor bank need?
The unit measures 26.3 inches high, 12.1 inches wide and 10.6 inches deep, and weighs 65 pounds. That weight on a fairly narrow footprint means block or concrete anchors, or a strut rack, rather than drywall anchors. Leave working clearance in front per NEC for a 600V class enclosure.
6) Is this a fixed capacitor bank or does it switch stages automatically?
The 7563PMURN is a fixed low voltage capacitor bank, not an automatic switched one. It puts its full kVAR on the bus whenever it is energized, so it suits a load with a steady base, like a motor that runs continuously. If your plant load swings hard and you risk leading power factor at light load, you want an automatic stepped bank with a controller instead.
7) What is the manufacturer part number for this B-Line low voltage capacitor bank?
The part number is 7563PMURN, a B-Line UNIPAK fixed capacitor bank, 75 kVAR, 600V, three-phase, non-fused, in a NEMA 1/3R enclosure.
