    Von Duprin 33AEO-F 4 US28 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) What doors is the Von Duprin 33A-F fire-rated exit device designed for?
The 33A-F is designed for narrow stile doors with grooved case mounting. It's fire-rated for doors requiring egress hardware that meets fire code requirements. Verify your door width and stile dimensions match the device specifications.
    2) What does "less dogging" mean for this exit device?
"Less dogging" means this device does not include the dogging feature that allows the pushbar to be held in the depressed position. The device will always require pushing the bar to unlatch the door, ensuring consistent egress operation.
    3) How do I determine the correct handing for this rim exit device?
Stand on the egress side (side you exit from) of the door. If the hinges are on your right, order right-hand handing. If hinges are on your left, order left-hand handing. Specify handing when ordering.
    4) What finishes are available for the Von Duprin 33A-F series?
Von Duprin typically offers finishes including aluminum, dark bronze, and others. Check the specific finish options available for your model number. Ensure interior and exterior components match if using cylinder dogging or other accessories.
    5) What is the difference between rim and mortise exit devices?
Rim devices like the 33A-F mount on the interior surface of the door. Mortise devices fit into a pocket cut into the door edge. Rim devices are easier to install and retrofit but add thickness to the door.
    6) Does this device meet ADA accessibility requirements?
Von Duprin exit devices typically meet ADA requirements for operating force and height when properly installed. Verify the specific model meets your project's accessibility compliance needs and local code requirements.
    7) What accessories work with the 33A-F series exit device?
Compatible accessories may include cylinder dogging, key override cylinders, pull handles, and weather protection. Verify accessory compatibility with your specific model number and finish requirements.
    8) How is the grooved case different from standard mounting?
Grooved case mounting uses channels or grooves in the door for device attachment rather than through-bolts. This provides a cleaner appearance and may be required for certain door constructions or fire ratings.
    9) What door thickness range does this exit device accommodate?
Check the manufacturer's specifications for exact door thickness requirements. Most Von Duprin rim devices accommodate standard commercial door thicknesses. Verify your door thickness falls within the acceptable range.
    10) How do I maintain proper operation of this exit device?
Regularly test pushbar operation and verify smooth latching/unlatching. Clean the device periodically and lubricate moving parts per manufacturer guidelines. Check mounting hardware tightness and alignment.
    11) Can this device be used on double doors?
Exit devices can be used on double doors with proper coordination hardware and vertical rod assemblies where required. Consult Von Duprin's double door solutions and coordinate with the inactive leaf hardware.
    12) What should I check before installing this exit device?
Verify door preparation matches the manufacturer's template. Check door alignment, frame squareness, and hardware mounting locations. Ensure you have the correct handing and finish. Review local fire and building code requirements.
