1) Will the Von Duprin 6121 electric strike work with my rim exit device?
The 6121 is built for rim exit devices with a 3/4 inch latch throw, and it works with Von Duprin, Falcon, and many other manufacturers' rim devices as well as rim night latch model 6114. If your device throws a Pullman-style latch rather than a standard 3/4 inch rim latchbolt, this is the wrong strike.
2) Should I order fail-safe or fail-secure on a 6121 strike?
Fail-secure keeps the door locked when power drops, so the opening stays secure and it's the version that can go on a fire rated door. Fail-safe releases the keeper when power is removed, which is what life safety and egress-on-power-failure schemes call for. It's a factory configuration, so pick it on the order, not in the field. Either way the exit device itself always gives free egress from the inside.
3) Does the Von Duprin 6121 run on 12 volts or 24 volts?
Both are available. 24 VDC is the standard build at 0.33 amp continuous duty; 12 VDC draws 0.6 amp continuous duty.
