Von Duprin 900870 32D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Von Duprin electric strikes does the 900290 screw package fit?
The 900290 screw package is ordered by strike model, and the choices are the 6212 and the 6111/6113. Pick the one matching the strike you are servicing, because the screws are specific to that strike's prep rather than a universal fastener kit.
2) Does the Von Duprin 900290 screw kit come in a brass finish to match a 605 strike?
Yes for the 6111/6113 strike, which is offered in both 605 bright brass and 630 satin stainless steel. The 6212 version comes in 630 satin stainless steel only, so a brass-finished 6212 install will not have a matching brass screw kit available under this part number.
3) Can I just buy generic screws from the hardware store instead of the Von Duprin 900290 package?
The 900290 is the OEM fastener set for Von Duprin electric strikes, sized so the strike seats correctly in the frame prep and stays secure under repeated electric release cycles. Field-sourced substitutes are what this part exists to avoid, and on an access-controlled opening a screw that does not seat properly in the strike body is a callback waiting to happen.
4) I am rebuilding a Von Duprin 6111 electric strike. Is the 900290 the screw set, or does it include the strike body?
Screws only. The 900290 is a replacement fastener package, not a strike or a faceplate, so if the 6111 body or plate is damaged you need those parts separately. Order the 900290 when the original mounting screws are stripped, missing, or left behind on a swap.
5) Do the 6111 and 6113 strikes use the same screw package?
Yes, they share one kit. The 900290 is ordered as a single 6111/6113 option covering both strikes, so you do not need to determine which of the two is in the frame before ordering. The 6212 is a separate selection.
6) Is the Von Duprin 900290 screw package a commercial part or will it work on residential doors?
It is a commercial door hardware part, supplied for electric strike assemblies in offices, schools, healthcare, retail, industrial and multi-tenant access control openings. Nothing stops it being used in a residential building, but it is only useful if the door already has a Von Duprin 6212 or 6111/6113 electric strike in it.
