Von Duprin 969091 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Von Duprin 969091 hex stud used for?
The 969091 is a genuine Von Duprin hex stud sold as a replacement part for the 696/697 Trim Series used with exit devices. It is a fastening component within the trim assembly, so you buy it when the stud is stripped, lost, or damaged rather than replacing the whole trim.
2) Will the 969091 hex stud fit Von Duprin trim other than the 696/697 series?
No. Von Duprin specifies the 969091 hex stud for the 696/697 Trim Series only. If your trim is a different Von Duprin family, order the stud called out for that series instead; a hex stud from another trim family is not an interchangeable part here.
3) Do I have to replace the whole 696/697 trim if the hex stud is damaged?
No. The hex stud is sold on its own, so a maintenance tech can swap just that component and leave the trim plate and lever in place. That is the point of stocking it for a facility: less downtime on the opening and no full trim reorder.
4) Is the 969091 hex stud rated for high traffic commercial openings?
It carries a Heavy Duty rating and is specified for commercial rather than residential use, which is what you want on school, hospital, retail, and office exit doors where the trim gets worked hard every day.
5) Is this an OEM Von Duprin part or an aftermarket copy?
Genuine Von Duprin. The 969091 is the factory part number for the 696/697 trim hex stud, so it matches the original assembly without filing, drilling, or other modification.
6) How many options do I need to choose when ordering the 969091?
Only one configuration exists, model 969091. There is no finish, handing, or size selection to make, so the part number is the whole order.
How fast can I get the Von Duprin 969091 delivered?
