Von Duprin 90045 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Von Duprin exit devices does the 090045 CD actuator fit?
The Von Duprin 090045 CD actuator is a replacement component for Von Duprin 33, 35, 98 and 99 Series exit devices. If your device is from another Von Duprin family, or another brand entirely, this part is not the one you want.
2) Is there an equivalent actuator part if the exit device is a Falcon or Accentra instead of a Von Duprin 33/35/98/99?
No. The Von Duprin 090045 CD actuator is built for the Von Duprin 33, 35, 98 and 99 Series exit devices and does not carry over to other makes. For a Falcon T Series device the corresponding internal latching component is the Falcon 23981160 2-3/8 inch square corner deadlatch replacement part, and for Accentra 7110/7120 devices the top latch replacement component is 60-7010-0049-999, with 60-7010-0050-999 covering the 7110F. Match the replacement part to the device family already on the door.
3) How many actuators come in a Von Duprin 090045 order?
Each 090045 order is a package of two CD actuators. For a maintenance shop servicing several openings, or a property manager keeping spares on the shelf, that covers two devices in one purchase.
4) Is the 090045 actuator rated for high traffic commercial doors?
It is a Grade 1 commercial-duty part, which in ANSI/BHMA terms is the heaviest-duty classification used for exit hardware in schools, hospitals, and other high-cycle openings. It is a commercial part, not a residential one.
5) My Von Duprin exit device is on a fire-rated opening - is the 090045 the right actuator?
The Von Duprin 090045 CD actuator is not carried as a fire-rated component, so specify a fire-listed device part for a labeled opening. Among comparable exit device components, the Accentra 7110F top latch replacement, part 60-7010-0050-999, serves the F-suffix fire version of that device family. Confirm the label on the door and the device model before ordering any latching component.
6) I have a pair of doors with no center mullion - does the 090045 solve that, or do I need something else?
The 090045 is an internal CD actuator for Von Duprin 33/35/98/99 Series devices; it does nothing about the opening itself. For double doors you want a mullion, such as the Falcon 4023 steel mullion for double door exit device applications, and the Falcon 525 aluminum mullion stabilizers if the mullion needs additional support.
7) What looks like a substitute for the 090045 but is not?
Two things get confused with it. A concealed vertical rod, such as the Falcon 610061 top rod for 24 Series Monarch F-25-C and F-25-CWDC devices, is a linkage that drives the top latch, not an actuator inside the device chassis. And a rim cylinder housing such as the Arrow 16RCR-27 SFIC rim housing for the 24/25 Series is the keyed outside control, not a device internal. The Von Duprin 090045 is a replacement actuator component for the 33/35/98/99 Series.
8) Is the Von Duprin 090045 a genuine Von Duprin part or an aftermarket copy?
It is a genuine Von Duprin component, which matters on exit hardware because a substituted internal part can change how the device releases. Ordering the factory part keeps the 33, 35, 98 or 99 Series device working as it was built to.
9) Does the Von Duprin 090045 come with a cylinder or trim?
No. The 090045 ships as two CD actuators and nothing else, no cylinder, trim, or mounting hardware. Cylinder work on a rim device is a separate order, for example a rim cylinder housing like the Arrow 16RCR-27 SFIC 6/7-pin housing for Arrow 24/25 Series devices.
10) For maintenance stock across a building, is the 090045 sold in a way that makes sense versus other exit device repair parts?
The Von Duprin 090045 CD actuator ships as a package of 2, which suits stocking for multi-door servicing on a Grade 1 commercial exit device population. Comparable single-device repair components, such as the Accentra 7110/7120 top latch 60-7010-0049-999 or the Falcon T Series 2-3/8 inch square corner deadlatch 23981160, are device-family specific, so a mixed-hardware facility stocks by device make rather than by one universal part.
