Sta-Kon RC337UF – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What wire size does the Sta-Kon RC337UF ring terminal crimp onto?
The RC337UF takes 12 to 10 AWG conductor. That is the yellow color code on vinyl insulated terminals, so if you are pulling from a bin by color, yellow is your 12-10 range. Run it on 14 or 16 AWG and the barrel will not grip the strands properly, so step down to the blue (16-14) barrel for those.
2) What stud or screw size does the RC337UF ring fit?
It is a No. 6 ring tongue, so it drops over a #6 screw or stud. If your terminal block or ground lug is tapped for #8 or 1/4-20, the ring will not pass over the stud and you need the larger tongue in the same 12-10 barrel.
3) Why does this Sta-Kon terminal have a 45 degree bend?
The tongue is formed at 45 degrees off the barrel, so the wire approaches the stud at an angle instead of straight on. That is what you want in a crowded panel or a terminal strip mounted against a back pan, where a flat ring would force a tight bend in the conductor right behind the crimp. If your landing point is clear and the wire runs in line with the stud, a standard flat ring terminal is the simpler choice.
4) Is the insulation on this ring terminal vinyl or nylon?
Vinyl. The RC337UF uses a vinyl insulating sleeve over the barrel, which is the common general purpose choice for panel and control wiring. Nylon insulated terminals are the ones specified when the job calls for higher temperature or better resistance to abrasion and solvents, so check the spec on the drawing before substituting one for the other.
5) Is the Sta-Kon RC337UF made in the USA?
Country of origin on the RC337UF is the United States. That matters if you are buying under a Buy American or domestic preference clause on a government, school, or healthcare project.
6) What is the manufacturer part number for this yellow 12-10 AWG 45 degree ring terminal?
Sta-Kon RC337UF is the part number to order. It identifies the yellow vinyl insulated, 12-10 AWG, No. 6 ring with the 45 degree tongue.
