WAC Lighting 5033-NSLEN-CL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the WAC Lighting NSLEN-CL lens safe to walk on over an inground uplight?
That's exactly what it's built for. The NSLEN-CL is a tempered glass lens with a textured non-slip face, intended to sit over inground uplights in walk-over locations like patios, walkways and hardscape. The tempered glass takes foot traffic and impact, and the texture cuts the slip hazard when the surface is wet.
2) Which fixtures does the WAC 6in inground non-slip lens fit?
It's sized as a 6in inground lens for WAC Lighting inground landscape fixtures, and it's part of the WAC Landscape collection. Measure the lens opening on the fixture you have: if it isn't a WAC 6in inground housing, this is not the lens for it.
3) Can this lens be used in an area that gets rain and sprinkler spray?
Yes. The NSLEN-CL carries a wet location rating, so direct exposure to rain and irrigation spray is within its intended use. That's the rating you need for an inground fixture sitting flush in grade where water pools over the lens.
4) I cracked the glass on an inground light in a walkway. Can I just replace the lens instead of the whole fixture?
If the fixture is a WAC 6in inground unit, yes. The NSLEN-CL is sold as a replacement and accessory lens, so a cracked or scratched walk-over lens can be swapped without pulling and rewiring the housing. Order the model 5033-NSLEN-CL.
5) Is this a decorative trim or louver, or just a flat lens?
It's a functional lens, not a decorative trim and not a glare louver or shroud. The design priority is a durable, slip-resistant walking surface that still passes the fixture's light output. If you're trying to cut glare or aim the beam, you need a different accessory.
6) For a commercial walkway spec, what does a non-slip lens buy me over a standard inground lens?
Two things that matter on a specified job: the tempered glass holds up to repeated foot traffic and impact better than standard glass, and the textured face reduces the slip hazard where pedestrians cross the fixture. Combined with the wet location rating, it's the lens choice for inground uplights set in pedestrian paving rather than in planting beds.
7) Will a clear non-slip lens dim the output of my inground uplight?
The NSLEN-CL is a clear tempered glass lens made to protect the fixture while maintaining its light output, so it isn't a diffuser or a filter. Expect the beam to read the same as with the standard lens, with the texture on the face for traction.
