1) Can the WAC Fuse WS-180227-30 vanity light be mounted vertically beside a mirror, or only horizontally above it?
Either. The Fuse bar mounts on a wall in any orientation, so it can run horizontally over the mirror or vertically on both sides of it. The backplate is 27 inches long, the fixture measures 27 inches long by 5.63 inches wide by 3 inches high, so allow that footprint whichever way you turn it. It can also go on a ceiling.
2) Will the Fuse WS-180227-30 work on my existing dimmer?
It dims on an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer, smoothly from 100 percent down to 5 percent. It will not dim correctly on a standard magnetic low voltage or 0-10V control, so if the wall box currently holds an incandescent rotary or a 0-10V dimmer, plan on swapping it for an ELV or TRIAC unit rated for LED loads.
3) Does the WAC Fuse 27-inch vanity light need a separate transformer or driver?
No separate driver or transformer is needed. The driver is concealed inside the fixture and accepts 120V, 240V or 277V input at 50/60Hz, so the same part works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting circuits. It is hardwired, with a 6 inch wire lead at the backplate, so a standard wall box behind the fixture is all the rough-in required.
4) Is the Fuse WS-180227-30 approved for an ADA-compliant restroom and for California Title 24?
Both. The fixture is ADA compliant, Energy Star rated, CEC listed and Title 24 compliant, which covers the usual checklist for public restrooms and for California permit work. At 3 inches high it is a shallow bar, which is what keeps it inside ADA projection limits on a corridor or restroom wall.
5) Can this WAC Fuse bar go in a shower or over a tub?
It is rated for damp locations and is ETL and cETL listed, so it can be used in a bathroom, above a tub, or outdoors under a covered soffit or porch. It is not wet-location rated, so keep it out of the direct shower spray zone and off any exposed exterior wall.
6) When the LEDs eventually fail, does the whole WAC Fuse fixture have to come off the wall?
No. The Fuse uses a high powered replaceable LED module rather than a sealed board, so the light source can be changed without pulling the fixture. Rated life is 50,000 hours, and the module ships installed, no lamps to buy.
7) What finish does the WS-180227-30 come in, and will it match other fixtures in the room?
This one is ordered as WS-180227-30-BN in brushed nickel, with a white acrylic diffuser. Brushed nickel is the most common bath fitting finish, so it generally reads alongside standard nickel faucets and towel bars. The body is aluminum, which is why it holds up in a damp bath without the corrosion issues of a plated steel housing.
8) I need 3500K instead of 3000K for a hotel standard. Does the Fuse come that way?
The Fuse series is built in both 3000K and 3500K, but the WS-180227-30 is the 3000K version specifically. If your spec calls for 3500K, order the 3500K variant of the Fuse rather than this part number, mixing the two on adjacent openings will show a visible color difference.
