WAC Lighting WAC-WAC-180424 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Turbo 24 inch vanity light be mounted vertically beside a mirror, or only horizontally above it?
Either. The Turbo bar can be mounted on a wall horizontally above the mirror or run vertically alongside it, and WAC also allows ceiling mounting. Mounting method is listed as wall or any orientation. The fixture body measures 24.02 inches long, 5 inches wide and 3.27 inches high, so plan vertical runs around a 24 inch bar.
2) Will the Turbo LED vanity light work on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The driver is universal input, 120V, 240V or 277V, and it is concealed inside the fixture, so the same part number works in a 120V apartment bath and a 277V commercial restroom. Input is 120-277 VAC, 50/60Hz. It is hardwired, not plug-in.
3) What dimmer do I need for the WAC Turbo LED bath bar? My standard incandescent dimmer is buzzing.
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. The Turbo dims smoothly from 100 percent down to 5 percent on either type. A standard magnetic low voltage or older forward-phase incandescent dimmer is not what this driver is rated for, which is where flicker and buzz come from.
4) Is this WAC vanity light ADA compliant for a commercial or multi-family restroom?
Yes, the Turbo is ADA compliant, and it is also Energy Star rated and CEC Title 24 compliant, which matters on California jobs. It is ETL and cETL listed for damp locations, so it is approved over a vanity or in a shower-adjacent area but not for direct wet exposure. Projection off the wall is 3.27 inches.
5) Do I order 3000K or 3500K, and which finishes come in each?
Both color temperatures are offered in both finishes: brushed nickel and chrome. 3000K (WS-180424-30-BN, WS-180424-30-CH) is the warmer, more residential white most bath vanities use; 3500K (WS-180424-35-BN, WS-180424-35-CH) reads slightly cooler and neutral, which many commercial and healthcare standards call for. CRI is 90 either way, so skin tones and finishes render accurately for grooming mirrors.
6) Can I put this WAC Turbo light on a covered porch or outside?
Only under cover. The rating is damp location, indoor or covered outdoor, so a soffit or a roofed porch is fine. Direct rain, snow or hose exposure requires a wet-location fixture instead.
7) How much light does the 24 inch Turbo put out, and is one enough over a bathroom mirror?
Rated at 1625 lumens from a multiple-LED array behind a co-extruded white acrylic diffuser, so the output is spread evenly across the 24 inch bar rather than punching out of a single point. One bar above a standard mirror handles general vanity lighting; for shadow-free lighting on both sides of the face, run two vertically, one each side of the mirror.
8) Are the LEDs replaceable, or is the whole fixture scrap when they fail?
The LED module is a high powered replaceable module, not a sealed throwaway board, and it ships installed. Rated life is 50,000 hours. For a property manager standardizing across a lot of baths, that means a module swap instead of pulling and rewiring the fixture.
9) How much slack wire do I get for the junction box connection?
The supply leads are 6 inches. That is enough to make up in a standard recessed box directly behind the fixture, but if your box is offset from the mounting point you will want to pigtail or relocate the box rather than stretch the leads. The backplate that covers the box is 5 inches.
10) What is the WAC Turbo bath bar actually made of? I need something that holds up in a high-traffic restroom.
Aluminum housing with a white acrylic diffuser, finished in brushed nickel or chrome. The acrylic diffuser will not shatter the way a glass shade does, which is why it suits hotel, student housing and multi-family restrooms. Styling is transitional, so it sits alongside both modern and traditional fixtures.
11) Is there a separate remote driver or transformer to find room for?
No separate driver box. The universal-input driver is built into the Turbo fixture, so it mounts to the junction box and wires line, neutral and ground with nothing to conceal in the wall or ceiling cavity.
