WAC Lighting WAC-PD-17023 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What voltage does the WAC Minecraft LED pendant run on, and can I use it on a 277V commercial circuit?
The Minecraft LED pendant takes 120-240-277V, so it drops onto a standard 120V residential circuit or a 277V commercial lighting branch without a separate driver or transformer. It is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in, so it needs a ceiling junction box and a licensed connection. Draw is 45W.
2) Can the Minecraft LED pendant be hung over a covered porch or in a bathroom?
Yes, within limits. It is damp location rated and carries an IP44 rating, which covers covered exterior spaces such as a porch ceiling or soffit, and interior damp areas like a bathroom outside the shower spray zone. It is not rated for wet locations, so skip open eaves, uncovered patios, or anywhere it takes direct rain.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Minecraft LED pendant?
It dims on an ELV (electronic low voltage) dimmer only. A standard incandescent or forward phase wall dimmer will likely flicker, buzz, or refuse to dim smoothly. Spec an ELV dimmer rated for the load, and if you are standardizing a building, put the same ELV control on every circuit carrying these.
4) Does the WAC Minecraft pendant meet California Title 24 for a lighting permit?
Yes. It is listed as both Title 20 and Title 24 compliant, which is what a California inspector looks for on a hardwired residential or commercial luminaire. It is ETL and cETL certified for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star rated, so do not submit it against an Energy Star rebate program.
5) Do I need to order bulbs for the Minecraft pendant, and what happens when the LED fails?
No lamps to buy. The light source is an integrated LED, included with the fixture, so there is no socket or replaceable bulb. It is rated at 50,000 average hours and puts out 5,600 lumens at 3000K warm white with a flood distribution.
6) Is the Minecraft pendant ADA compliant for a corridor or restroom?
No. It is not ADA compliant, and as a suspended cable-hung ceiling fixture it is not intended for wall-mounted protruding-object applications. For corridors and restrooms where ADA protrusion limits apply, use a dedicated ADA sconce. Hung from the ceiling in an open space at a height that clears the required headroom, the ADA sconce rule is not what governs.
7) What finish and color temperature does the WAC Minecraft LED pendant come in?
One configuration: black finish at 3000K, ordered as PD-17023-BK. If a project requires matching multiple pendants across a space, every unit will be the same warm 3000K black fixture, so there is no risk of a color temperature mismatch between orders.
8) What is the Minecraft pendant made of, and will the diffuser yellow or glare?
Body construction is steel, with a white acrylic diffuser over the LED. The acrylic spreads the output into a flood pattern rather than a hot visible source, which is why it works over seating and work surfaces. Steel plus an enclosed acrylic lens is also why it holds an IP44 damp rating.
