WAC Lighting R2ARAT-F827-BK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the difference between the lensed and non-lensed versions of the WAC Aether 2 inch round adjustable trim?
The R2ARAT is offered both ways. Non-lensed finishes are Black, Black/White, and Haze/White. Lensed versions are Lensed Black, Lensed Black/White, Lensed Haze/White, and Lensed White. The lens softens the aperture appearance and covers the optic, which is what most spec writers want in bedrooms, patient rooms, and anywhere the fixture sits in a sight line; the open, non-lensed trims give a crisper beam edge for accenting.
2) How do I order the right WAC Aether 2 inch round adjustable trim?
Three choices have to be made on the R2ARAT: beam (F at 40 degrees or N at 26 to 28 degrees), color temperature and CRI (2700K 85 or 90, 3000K 85 or 90, 3500K 85, or 4000K 85), and finish (Black, Black/White, Haze/White, Lensed Black, Lensed Black/White, Lensed Haze/White, or Lensed White). Keep the color temperature and CRI identical across every trim in one room; mixing 85 and 90 CRI units in the same ceiling is visible.
3) What does a finish like Black/White or Haze/White mean on the Aether R2ARAT trim?
The two-part finish names describe the cone and the flange separately on the R2ARAT. Black/White and Haze/White pair a dark or haze interior cone with a white exterior flange, so the trim ring disappears into a white ceiling while the darker cone cuts aperture glare. Straight Black is black throughout, and Lensed White is white throughout. Property managers standardizing a building usually land on a white flange option so the ceiling reads uniform.
4) Is the WAC Aether R2ARAT a fixed downlight or can I aim it?
It is an adjustable round trim, so the optic tilts and can be aimed off vertical rather than firing straight down. That is what makes it the choice for wall washing, art, and sloped-ceiling openings where a fixed downlight would throw the beam in the wrong direction. Combine the adjustable trim with the N beam (26 to 28 degrees) when you need to put light on a specific object.
