WAC Lighting X-EC-BK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the WAC Lighting X-EC end cap used for on an outdoor track run?
The X-EC is an end cap that closes off the end of a WAC X Track outdoor run, or the open end of a track pattern, so the run terminates with a finished aluminum cover instead of an exposed track end. It is an accessory only, not a feed or connector, so it does not supply power to the run.
2) Will the X-EC end cap work on a 120V track system?
No. The X-EC is built for the 12V WAC X Track outdoor system. If your run is line-voltage 120V track, this end cap is not the right part for it.
3) Can this track end cap be installed outdoors where it gets rained on directly?
Yes. The X-EC is rated for wet locations with an IP66 rating, so direct rain and outdoor exposure are within its rating. That covers uncovered patios, pergolas, and exposed building faces, not just soffits and covered porches.
4) Is the WAC X-EC end cap listed for code-compliant commercial work?
It carries both ETL and cETL listings, which covers US and Canadian installations, along with the IP66 wet-location rating. That is the documentation an inspector or spec-driven commercial job typically wants on an outdoor track accessory.
5) What finishes does the X-EC outdoor end cap come in, and can I match the rest of my track?
Two finishes: black and white. Both are part of the X Track collection, so the cap matches the finish of the track sections and heads in that same system across a multi-building or multi-patio install.
6) Do I need one X-EC per track run or more than one?
Count your open track ends, not your runs. The X-EC is sold as an additional end cap, and each exposed end of a run or an open track pattern takes one. A straight run finished at both ends needs two; a pattern with several open legs needs one per leg.
7) Is the X-EC aluminum or plastic, and how does it hold up in coastal or high-moisture exposure?
Aluminum housing, chosen for outdoor exposure rather than a molded plastic cap. Combined with the IP66 wet-location rating, it is intended for continuous exterior service rather than a covered-only application.
8) Is the WAC X-EC end cap ADA compliant or Energy Star rated?
Neither applies here. The X-EC is listed as not ADA compliant and not Energy Star, which is expected for a non-powered track end cap, it draws no energy and has no mounting height or protrusion function to certify.
