Metallics SSWK1316 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are these washers corrosion resistant enough for coastal or wet outdoor electrical work?
The washers in the SSWK1316 kit are 316 stainless steel, the marine grade with molybdenum added, so it holds up better against salt and chloride exposure than 304. That makes the kit a reasonable choice for coastal, washdown, and exterior electrical mounting where plated steel washers would rust out.
2) What comes in the Metallics SSWK1316 flat washer kit?
The SSWK1316 is a 400-piece flat washer assortment in 316 stainless steel, supplied as a single kit under one part number. It is an assortment kit rather than a single-size bulk pack, so it covers a range of flat washer sizes for general fastening work.
3) Is the Metallics SSWK1316 one kit or do I order 400 separate pieces?
One order gets you one kit containing 400 washers. The part number SSWK1316 is sold as a single packaged assortment, so quantity 1 is a full 400-piece kit, not an individual washer.
4) Can I mix these stainless washers with galvanized bolts?
The kit is 316 stainless, and pairing stainless washers with zinc or galvanized bolts puts two dissimilar metals in contact, which can drive galvanic corrosion of the zinc in wet or salty conditions. For outdoor and coastal installs, match the washers with stainless fasteners of the same family; indoors and dry, the mix is commonly accepted.
