Metallics JMSW22SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are Metallics JMSW22SS sealing washers stainless steel, and will they hold up outdoors?
Stainless steel is the washer material, which is why these get specified for exterior and damp-location work where a plated steel washer would rust and streak the panel. The sealing element under the head is what keeps water out of the fastener hole.
2) Are these washers made in the USA?
Yes. The Metallics JMSW22SS master seal washer is made in the United States, which matters if your job carries a domestic-sourcing requirement on fasteners.
3) What is a master seal washer used for on an electrical or MRO job?
A seal washer goes under the screw head to close off the hole the fastener makes, so water does not track through a panel, enclosure cover, or metal roof penetration. Metallics catalogs the JMSW22SS as an electrical fastener, and it is the piece crews grab when mounting straps, covers, and panels on exterior metal. It is a washer only, no screw included, so order the #12 fasteners separately.
4) How many washers come in a jar of Metallics JMSW22SS?
Each jar holds 100 pieces, packed in a jar rather than a bag, which keeps them contained on a cart or in a gang box instead of spilling loose.
