Watco 01003-BZ Bathtub Overflow Plate, Bronze Finish

The Watco 01003-BZ is a bathtub overflow plate finished in Bronze, designed to cover the overflow opening on a bathtub waste-and-overflow assembly. As a rough-in and trim component from Watco, a manufacturer specializing in tub waste and overflow drain systems, this overflow plate is intended for plumbers and contractors completing a bath waste installation where an overflow cover is required to close out the overflow tube opening at the tub wall. The Bronze finish allows the plate to be matched to other Bronze-finished bath waste trim on the same installation, including the drain stopper, strainer, or tub shoe, so the finished assembly presents a consistent appearance once the tub surround is complete.

Watco 01003-BZ – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the Watco 01003 bathtub overflow plate, and does it include the stopper or drain?
It's just the faceplate that covers the overflow opening at the tub wall on a bath waste-and-overflow assembly. No stopper, strainer or tub shoe comes with it, so if you're replacing more than the visible cover you'll need those pieces separately. Plumbers typically buy it on its own to close out an overflow tube opening or swap a worn, damaged or mismatched cover during a remodel.
2) I'm replacing a cracked overflow cover on an existing tub. Will the Watco 01003 plate work?
That's one of its intended uses, service and repair on an existing tub waste and overflow assembly. It installs over the overflow opening on the tub wall. Before ordering, confirm what you're removing is a plate-style cover rather than an integral trip-lever or lift-and-turn overflow trim, since those carry a linkage behind the plate and need the matching trim, not a plain faceplate.
3) What finishes does the Watco 01003 overflow plate come in?
Two: Bronze (model 01003-BZ) and Chrome (model 01003CP). Pick the one that matches the rest of the visible bath waste trim on the tub, stopper, strainer and tub shoe, so the finished assembly reads as one set.
4) Can I use a Watco overflow plate on a non-Watco tub waste assembly?
Watco states the plate is designed to work as part of a coordinated Watco bath waste and overflow assembly, and that's where fit is accounted for. On another manufacturer's waste and overflow, nothing in the product data confirms the mounting will line up, so for a mixed-brand repair the safer route is matching the plate to the waste body you already have.
5) For a multi-unit bathroom remodel, can I standardize overflow plate finish across tubs?
Yes. Ordering the same model across openings gives uniform visible trim, 01003-BZ for Bronze units and 01003CP for Chrome. Property managers running a fleet of similar bathrooms usually stock one finish for the whole building so a single service call part covers any tub.
6) Is the Watco 01003 plate used on new construction or only repairs?
Both. Watco lists it for bathtub waste and overflow trim-out on new construction, for finish-matching to a complete Watco waste and overflow kit, and for replacing worn or damaged covers during a remodel or service call.
