Weslock 02104--EA0020 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Weslock 2104 Eleganti interior trim include a latch or a lock, or is it just the inside handle?
The 2104 Eleganti is interior trim only, and the function is dummy, so there is no latch, no cylinder and no keyed operation in it. It is the inside half that dresses the opening and gives you something to pull on. Weslock lists it as non-keyed. If you need an operating inside lever with a deadbolt thumbturn, this is not the part.
2) What door thickness does the Weslock 2104 handleset trim fit?
Standard setup covers 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch doors. There is a second door thickness choice to order for 2 inch to 2-1/4 inch doors, so a thick custom or solid entry slab is handled by specifying that option rather than a different part number. Below 1-3/4 inches you are outside the published range.
3) What is the closest non-keyed interior handleset trim to the Weslock 2104 Eleganti if I need a lever instead of a knob-style trim?
The Schlage Residential F59 Accent interior pack is a dummy-function interior trim with an Accent lever, listed as Grade 2. The Weslock 2104 Eleganti is also a dummy, non-keyed interior trim. The main difference to check before ordering is door thickness: the Weslock 2104 covers 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch doors, while the F59 Accent is listed for 1-5/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch. On a 2 inch door the Schlage F59 will not reach.
4) I have a thicker entry door than the Weslock 2104 Eleganti covers. What interior handleset trim goes on it?
The Weslock 2104 Eleganti is listed for doors 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch. If your slab runs heavier, the Schlage Residential FC59 Alexandria interior trim pack is a dummy-function trim listed for 1-5/8 inch to 2-3/4 inch doors. It carries a glass knob rather than a handleset lever grip and includes a deadbolt thumbturn, so confirm the thumbturn is wanted before you swap.
5) Does Weslock handleset hardware work with a 2-3/8 inch backset, or only 2-3/4?
Both. The Weslock latch is adjustable between 2-3/8 and 2-3/4 inch backset, which are the two standard residential backsets, so you do not have to know which one the door was bored for before ordering. Faceplates are removable and come in radius and square, 1 x 2-1/4 inches, and the strike is a round corner strike.
6) I have several Weslock entry doors on one key. Can this trim be keyed alike with them?
The 2104 Eleganti trim is a dummy, non-keyed piece, so it carries no cylinder to key. Weslock does offer a keying selection at order time (keyed different as standard, or keyed alike with a key code), which applies to the keyed pieces in a Weslock order on the 5-pin Weslock keyway. Property managers standardizing a building should key the entry functions and treat this trim as cosmetic.
7) Is Weslock 2104 trim rated for commercial use in an apartment building corridor?
Weslock lists the Traditionale line as residential. Weslock states the line exceeds ANSI A156.2 Grade 2 lock standards, but for a commercial corridor or high-traffic institutional opening you want a commercial bored lockset rather than a residential handleset trim.
8) What else could I use instead of the Weslock 2104 if I need an operating interior pack rather than a dummy?
Two directions. Schlage Residential F59 Accent lever interior pack and the FC59 Alexandria glass knob interior trim pack with deadbolt thumbturn are both Grade 2 dummy-function interior trim, with the FC59 covering 1-5/8 to 2-3/4 inch doors. If you want an entrance-function interior pack with a keyed deadbolt on the inside, the Kwikset 966BL Balboa and 966AO Aliso packs are Grade 3 entrance trim built for Kwikset Signature Series 800 and 687 handlesets. Kwikset interior packs mate to Kwikset exterior trim, not to Weslock.
9) What is the Weslock 2104 Eleganti trim made of, and what finish does it come in?
Brass is the substrate, and it is offered in Antique Brass. The Eleganti trim sits in Weslock's Traditionale collection in the Lexington style, which is what to match against if the rest of the openings in the house already carry Weslock Traditionale hardware.
10) Do I need to worry about handing when ordering Weslock 2104 dummy trim?
No. It is a dummy trim with no latch mechanism, so there is no handed lever throw to get wrong. Compare that to a handed interior trim like the Kwikset 966BRL Brooklane, which is sold left hand specific.
