Thomas & Betts WMSL-A-90 Wire Marker Books

Each WMSL-A-90 book carries a full alphanumeric spread: 0 through 15, 16 through 90, and A through Z. The counts are weighted toward the low digits you use most, 6 markers each for 0 thru 15, 4 markers each for 16 thru 90, and 2 markers each for A thru Z. That covers conductor numbering on a panel schedule plus phase and circuit lettering out of one book.

Sold each, with an order multiple of 10, so quantities go 10, 20, 30 and so on. Inner pack is 10 books and the full outer carton holds 240. For a contractor stocking trucks, one order multiple puts a book in each of ten vans.

Self-laminating vinyl. The printed legend sits on one end of the marker and the clear tail wraps over it once the marker is on the conductor, so the laminate seals the legend against abrasion and handling in the pull. That is the difference from a plain cloth or paper marker, which rubs off in a wire trough.

The WMSL-A-90 marker book is RoHS compliant, which is usually the box that has to be ticked on public agency, healthcare and education submittals for consumable electrical accessories.

Go with a combined book like the WMSL-A-90 when you are marking mixed work, branch circuits, control conductors and phase letters, and you don't know in advance which legends the job will eat. It carries 0 through 90 plus A through Z in one item. Single-legend cards make more sense only when you are repeating one number hundreds of times, since a book gives you just 6 of each of the low digits, 4 of each number from 16 to 90, and 2 of each letter.

Plan on more than one for a full panel. With only 6 markers for each digit 0 through 15 and 4 for each number 16 through 90, a 42-circuit panel marked at both ends will run a single book dry on the common numbers. Order in multiples of 10 books anyway, so stocking a realistic quantity isn't extra effort.

11.88 lbs per 100 books. Useful if you are quoting a bulk stock order, since a full outer carton of 240 books works out from that same per-100 figure.
