1) How do I terminate Wiremold 500 or 700 raceway into an existing junction box or into EMT conduit?
Two different fittings. The 5781 box connector lands the raceway onto an outlet or junction box knockout. The 5782 is the conduit connector for 1/2 inch trade size, so it is the one you use where the surface raceway transitions to 1/2 inch conduit. Order one per termination point, both ends of a run usually need one.
2) What holds Wiremold 500 series raceway to the wall, and what keeps the cover from popping off?
The 504 mounting strap is the piece that fastens to the wall or structure and carries the raceway base. The 506 cover clip retains the cover on the base along the run. On long straight runs both are consumables, count straps at your fastening interval and add clips wherever the cover needs extra hold, such as near fittings or over an uneven wall.
3) Will these fittings work with raceway that is already installed in my building?
They are 500 and 700 series components, so they mate with existing Wiremold 500 and 700 series steel surface raceway. If your existing run is a different Wiremold series, or a plastic raceway from another maker, these will not fit, check the series marking on the installed base before ordering elbows or connectors.
4) Are these Wiremold fittings steel or plastic?
Steel, with a silver finish. That matters for two reasons on commercial work: the metal raceway path stays continuous through the fittings, and the components stand up to traffic in shops, corridors, and back-of-house areas where a PVC surface raceway would get damaged.
5) I am ordering a surface raceway job, what fitting counts should I plan for?
Work the run end to end. Every inside corner takes a 517, every outside corner a 518, and every flat direction change a 511. Each end that lands on a box takes a 5781, and each transition to 1/2 inch conduit takes a 5782. Then add 504 mounting straps along the straight lengths and 506 cover clips to retain the cover. Ordering the elbows short is the usual reason a crew stops mid-run.
6) Can Wiremold 500 and 700 steel raceway carry data and comm cable, not just power?
Yes. The system is used for power distribution, data networking, and communication cable routing in offices, schools, healthcare, retail, and data center spaces. If you are running power and low voltage in the same path, use a divided base or separate runs, the fittings themselves are just the corners, straps, and terminations.
