Both are high capacity steel device boxes in ivory, and the difference is volume. The V5744-3 is the triple high capacity version at 80.3 cubic inches. The V5744S-3 is the triple special high capacity version at 66.9 cubic inches. If you are stuffing three devices plus conductors and need every bit of fill you can get, the V5744-3 is the larger box; the S version trades roughly 13 cubic inches of volume for the special high configuration.
