Wiremold V20GB306TR – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What lengths does the Wiremold Plugmold 2000TR multi-outlet strip come in?
Two lengths: 3 foot and 5 foot. Each length is offered in black, ivory, and white, so all six combinations exist (for example WH20GB306TR is the 3 foot white and BK20GB506TR is the 5 foot black). If you are running a continuous bench or counter, plan the run in 3 and 5 foot increments and order the finish that matches the trim you already have.
2) Do I need tamper-resistant receptacles for a school or healthcare project?
That is exactly what the 2000TR is for. Every receptacle in the strip is tamper-resistant, with shuttered contacts that block a single-blade insertion, which is the requirement that drives TR receptacles in classrooms, pediatric and patient areas, and daycare spaces. A standard non-TR Plugmold strip will not satisfy that requirement, so if the spec calls for tamper-resistant, order the TR suffix version rather than the plain one.
3) Is the Wiremold 2000TR Plugmold made of steel or plastic?
Steel. The 2000TR raceway housing is metal, not molded plastic, which is why it holds up on shop benches, corridors, and back-of-house walls where a plastic strip gets cracked. Finish is applied over the steel and comes in black, ivory, or white.
4) Which Wiremold 2000TR part number do I order for a white 5 foot strip?
WH20GB506TR is the white 5 foot. The pattern runs across the family: the finish prefix is WH for white, V for ivory, BK for black, and the digit after 20GB is the length in feet, so V20GB306TR is a 3 foot ivory and BK20GB306TR is a 3 foot black. The TR on the end is the tamper-resistant designation.
5) Will a Wiremold Plugmold 2000TR strip match the ivory devices already in my building?
Ivory is one of the three stock finishes, alongside white and black, so a fleet already standardized on ivory devices can be matched without a field repaint. Both the 3 foot and 5 foot lengths are built in ivory (V20GB306TR and V20GB506TR), so you can mix run lengths across different rooms and keep one finish through the whole property.
6) Is Plugmold a surface raceway or does it go inside the wall?
Plugmold is surface mounted. The steel channel fastens to the face of a finished wall, cabinet, or bench and carries the receptacles along its length, so you add outlets to an existing room without opening drywall or fishing new boxes. That is the reason it gets used in retrofits of offices, classrooms, and retail fixtures where cutting in additional wall boxes is not practical.
7) Can I use the 2000TR Plugmold instead of a plug-in power strip under a workbench?
Yes, and it is the better choice where the strip is permanent. A plug-in power strip is a cord-and-plug appliance that gets unplugged, daisy chained, and written up on inspections. The 2000TR is a hardwired steel multi-outlet raceway that fastens down and becomes part of the building wiring, with tamper-resistant receptacles throughout. For a temporary desk setup a plug strip is fine; for a bench, casework run, or corridor that has to pass inspection, use the raceway.
