Wiremold 717WH – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does a Wiremold V17 internal elbow actually do on a raceway run?
It carries a surface raceway run around an inside corner, where two walls meet and the raceway has to turn into the corner rather than away from it. The steel fitting keeps the conductors enclosed and protected through the bend instead of leaving them exposed at the turn. If your corner turns outward (around a column or an outside wall edge), an internal elbow is the wrong fitting for that turn.
2) Does the Wiremold V17 internal elbow come in white to match existing raceway?
Two finishes are offered: white, ordered as part number 717WH, and ivory, ordered as V717. Older Wiremold 700 series runs in a building are commonly ivory, newer work usually white, so match the fitting to the raceway already on the wall rather than to the trim.
3) What size is the Wiremold V17 internal elbow and how much does it stand off the wall?
It measures 3.88 inches square in footprint (3.88 in depth by 3.88 in width) and stands 0.75 inches high, so it sits nearly flush in tight spaces above counters, behind desks, or along ceiling lines. Weight is 0.21 lb, so a single installer can set it without support.
4) Is the V717 elbow metal or plastic?
Steel. That matters on two counts for a commercial job: it stands up to impact in corridors, shops, and back-of-house areas where a plastic fitting gets cracked, and it keeps the corner consistent with the steel raceway body it fits.
5) Do I need anything else besides the elbow to finish a corner in a raceway run?
The elbow handles the turn only. You still need the raceway base and cover for the straight runs on either side, plus whatever couplings, connectors, and fasteners that run calls for. Order the elbow in the same finish as the run, white 717WH or ivory V717, so the corner does not stand out.
6) Can I use the Wiremold V717 internal elbow in a hospital or school corridor?
It is built for commercial and institutional surface wiring, with named applications including healthcare facilities, educational institutions, data centers, retail, office, and manufacturing plants. The steel body and the 0.75 inch low profile are what make it workable in occupied corridors where an exposed bundle of cable would not pass.
