Yale Residential YR11KC-626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Yale Kincaid passage lever fit a 1-3/8 inch interior door?
Yes. The Kincaid lever from Yale's YH Collection covers a door thickness range of 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches, so it works on both older 1-3/8 inch interior doors and standard 1-3/4 inch doors without any extra kit. That range covers most residential passage openings, closets and hall doors.
2) Does the Kincaid passage lever drop into an existing 2-1/8 inch bore?
It does. The Kincaid passage set uses a 2-1/8 inch cross bore and a 1 inch edge bore, which is the standard residential bored-lockset prep. If you are pulling an old knob or lever off a door already drilled that way, no new drilling is needed.
3) Does the Yale Kincaid lever need to be ordered left hand or right hand?
No handing to specify. The YH Collection levers are non-handed, so one part number works on a door swinging either way. Order by finish only.
4) Does the Kincaid passage lever lock?
It doesn't, and that is the point of it. Passage function means both levers always turn and the latch just holds the door closed. There is no key and no thumbturn. Use it on closets, hallways and rooms that never need to be secured; if you need privacy on a bath or bedroom, or a keyed entry, you need a different function in the same Kincaid style.
5) Is the Yale YH Collection Kincaid lever rated for light commercial use?
It carries ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2. Yale catalogs the YH Collection as residential hardware, and Grade 2 is the light commercial tier, which is why it holds up in apartment interiors, offices and hospitality corridors rather than just single-family homes. For a high-traffic commercial entrance you would step up to Grade 1.
6) Are the screws visible on the Kincaid lever once it's installed?
No. The Kincaid uses concealed screws behind a flat round rose, so the finished face is clean with no exposed fasteners. It installs with one tool, and a square spindle keeps the two halves aligned while you set it.
7) Can I standardize a whole building on Kincaid levers across passage, privacy and entry doors?
The Kincaid trim style runs across the YH Collection, so the passage set here matches the look of other Kincaid functions on the same floor. What this particular set gives you is the non-keyed passage function with a flat round rose. Match on finish code (605, 619, 626, 10BP or BSP) to keep every opening consistent.
