Metallics RB42 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size conduit does the Metallics RB42 reducing bushing adapt?
The RB42 is a steel reducing bushing that takes a 1-1/2 inch opening down to 1 inch trade size. Use it when a box, enclosure or fitting is punched or tapped for 1-1/2 inch conduit and the run coming in is 1 inch.
2) Is the RB42 reducing bushing steel or plastic?
Steel. The Metallics RB42 is a steel conduit reducer, so it is the metallic option for rigid and IMC work rather than a plastic insulating bushing.
3) Can I use a reducing bushing instead of buying a smaller knockout box?
That is exactly the job. Rather than changing the enclosure, the RB42 threads into a 1-1/2 inch hub or knockout and gives you a 1 inch female opening for the conduit. It is the quickest fix when a panel or box is drilled larger than the raceway you are landing.
4) What is the Metallics part number for a 1-1/2 inch to 1 inch steel reducing bushing?
Order Metallics RB42. That is the manufacturer part number for the 1-1/2 inch to 1 inch steel conduit reducing bushing.
