Allied Tube & Conduit CK150RKON – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size EMT does the Allied Tube & Conduit CK150RKON compression coupling fit?
The CK150RKON is a 1-1/2 inch compression coupling, so it joins two lengths of 1-1/2 inch conduit. Compression couplings like this one tighten down on the raceway with a gland nut, so no threading of the conduit is needed at the joint.
2) Can a compression coupling be used in a concrete pour?
Yes. The CK150RKON is rated concrete tight, which is what you need when the raceway is embedded in a slab or poured wall and you have to keep wet concrete out of the run.
3) Compression coupling or set screw coupling for 1-1/2 inch conduit?
Go compression when the joint has to keep water or wet concrete out. The CK150RKON is a concrete tight compression fitting, so it suits slab pours and damp locations. Set screw couplings are the cheaper, faster option and are generally limited to dry indoor runs.
4) Is the CK150RKON coupling protected against corrosion?
It is zinc plated, which is the standard corrosion protection for steel fittings in dry and damp interior work. Zinc plated steel is not a substitute for a fitting specified for direct burial or corrosive environments.
5) Is this coupling strong enough for exposed commercial conduit runs?
It is built with heavy steel walls rather than a light die cast body, which is what holds up on exposed runs where the raceway takes knocks or supports its own weight between straps.
