1) Will a 1 inch galvanized malleable iron coupling thread onto standard 1 inch threaded pipe?
Yes. Both ends of the ASC Engineered Solutions 1 inch galvanized coupling are 1 inch FPT (female pipe thread), cut to ASME B1.20.1, which is the standard NPT thread used on schedule 40 threaded steel and galvanized pipe. It joins two male-threaded 1 inch pipe ends or nipples in a straight run.
2) Is this 1 inch malleable iron coupling UL listed and FM approved for a fire sprinkler line?

Yes. NPT threads to ASME B1.20.1 are a tapered thread that seals on thread engagement, so a thread sealant or PTFE tape on the male pipe ends is standard practice. Nothing is supplied with the coupling itself.
