The Metallics JFM190SS is a 12-24 UNC screw, 24 threads per inch, cut to ANSI/ASME B1.1. That is the thread used on most steel outlet and switch box mounting holes, cover plates, and raceway fittings, so it mates with any 12-24 tapped hole or nut. It will not start in a 10-32 or 1/4-20 hole.
2) Are these stainless machine screws OK outdoors, in food plants, or in refrigeration equipment?
Yes. The screws are 18-8 stainless, which is specified for general atmospheric corrosion resistance and is the usual choice in food processing machinery and refrigeration equipment. 18-8 also holds its strength better than plain steel as operating temperature rises.
