1) Is the Thomas & Betts ADFS-1 box threaded for 1/2 inch conduit, and how many hubs does it have?
The ADFS-1 is a 1/2 inch 1-gang deep (FD) device box with a dead end configuration and a single hub, so it takes one 1/2 inch conduit entry only. 2) Is an aluminum die cast FD box OK for a damp or outdoor location?

To actually achieve a raintight assembly you still need the matching raintight device cover and gasket, which are ordered separately. 3) Does the ADFS-1 come with a cover?
No. The ADFS-1 is the box body only. You order the device cover separately and choose it by what mounts in the box, a single-gang switch cover, duplex receptacle cover, or a blank, plus a raintight gasketed cover if the location is exposed. Conduit fittings and the mounting hardware are also separate.
4) What is the non-metallic alternative to the Thomas & Betts ADFS-1 deep device box?
The Kraloy FSED050710 is a PVC 1-gang deep FSE gang box, so it covers the same single-gang deep device footprint in a non-metallic material. The Thomas & Betts ADFS-1 is aluminum die cast. Choose on the raceway system you are running: PVC conduit bodies and boxes solvent-weld together, while the aluminum ADFS-1 is threaded for 1/2 inch metallic conduit and carries a metal path. In corrosive wash-down or buried-stub locations the PVC body is non-conductive and will not corrode; where the installation requires a metallic box, the die cast aluminum ADFS-1 is the one to specify.
5) Will a standard single-gang switch or receptacle mount in the ADFS-1 FD box?
Yes. It is a 1-gang box, so it houses one standard wiring device, switch, or similar component, and the deep (FD) body gives extra room behind the device for pigtails and heavier conductor bundles than a shallow FS body. Covers and gaskets are separate items and are not part of the box.
6) Should I use a metal FD box or a PVC one for an FSE installation?
Pick the material to match the raceway system. The Thomas & Betts ADFS-1 is aluminum die cast, which is what you want with metal conduit, where the box is part of the equipment grounding path and the installation takes physical abuse.
