Metallics M721168 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size staple is the Metallics M721168 insulated staple?
The Metallics M721168 is an insulated staple measuring 13/64 x 31/64 inches. The 13/64 inch dimension is the crown opening that seats over the cable, and the 31/64 inch is the leg, so it is sized for small-diameter low-voltage and NM-type runs rather than heavy feeders.
2) Is the M721168 staple insulated for use directly against cable jacket?
Yes. The M721168 is an insulated staple, meaning the crown carries a non-metallic saddle that bears on the cable rather than bare steel cutting into the jacket. That is the reason electricians specify insulated staples over plain ones for jacketed cable runs.
3) What part number do I order for the 13/64 x 31/64 Metallics insulated staple?
Order Metallics M721168. That is the manufacturer part number and the only model on the 13/64 x 31/64 insulated staple, so there is no size or finish option to specify.
