Keystone KT-LED14.5T8-48G-835-DX2 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Do I have to remove the ballast to install the Keystone 14.5W T8 LED tube?
Yes. Model KT-LED14.5T8-48G-835-DX2 is a direct drive, ballast bypass lamp, so the existing fluorescent ballast has to be disconnected and removed from the circuit. Line voltage is wired straight to the lampholders. If you want a lamp that drops into an existing working ballast with no rewiring, this is not that type of tube.
2) Will this LED T8 tube run on 277V in a commercial building?
It will. The Keystone direct drive T8 accepts 120 to 277 volts, so the same lamp works on 120V residential or light commercial circuits and on 277V building lighting panels. No separate voltage version to specify.
3) Is single-end or double-end wiring required for this ballast bypass T8?
The DX2 designation on KT-LED14.5T8-48G-835-DX2 is Keystone's double-end direct drive lamp: line goes to one end of the fixture and neutral to the other. Shunted lampholders can stay in a double-end wiring setup, which is what makes this type faster to retrofit than a single-end lamp that needs non-shunted tombstones on the live end.
4) Is 1900 lumens enough to replace a 32W fluorescent in an office fixture?
At 14.5W and 1900 lumens with a 240 degree beam spread, this tube is aimed at general ambient lighting in offices, retail, classrooms, healthcare and warehouse bays. It is a lower-output lamp than a high-lumen 32W F32T8 of roughly 2800 to 3000 lumens, so in a two-lamp troffer over a desk you may want to check your foot-candle target before swapping one for one. In corridors, storage and multi-lamp fixtures the output is usually fine.
5) Will this LED tube work in an enclosed or damp-location fluorescent fixture?
Treat it as a general purpose T8 lamp replacement for the interior applications Keystone names: offices, retail, schools, healthcare, industrial workspaces and warehouse storage. Fixture-specific suitability beyond those is a function of the housing, not the lamp, so match it to the luminaire's own rating.
