Metallics DCP2R – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is a Metallics DCP2R mud ring cover used for?
The DCP2R is a 2-gang mud ring cover from Metallics, an electrical supply item. A mud ring (also called a plaster ring) mounts to the box and brings the device opening forward flush with the finished wall surface, so drywall can be cut to it and the device plate sits flat. The 2-gang version carries two side-by-side device openings, so it covers a two-device box such as a pair of switches, a switch and receptacle, or two receptacles.
2) Will a 2-gang mud ring work on a single-gang box?
No. The DCP2R is a 2-gang cover, so it is sized to a two-device box opening. Put it on a single-gang box and the second device opening has nothing behind it. For a one-device box you need a single-gang mud ring instead.
3) What part number do I order for the Metallics 2-gang mud ring?
Order Metallics DCP2R. That is the manufacturer part number and the only model offered for the 2-gang mud ring cover, so there are no finish or size options to pick when you order it.
