Steel City SH106-1 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What conduit types does the Steel City SH106-1 service entrance cap fit?
The SH106-1 is a clamp-type service entrance cap sized for 2 inch conduit, and the description covers rigid, IMC, and EMT. The clamp body grips the conduit rather than threading onto it, which is why one part serves all three raceway types at the same trade size.
2) Will a 2 inch service entrance cap work on 1-1/2 inch or 2-1/2 inch conduit?
No. The SH106-1 is built for 2 inch conduit only; the clamp is sized to that trade diameter and will not close on a smaller mast or fit over a larger one. Order the cap that matches your riser size.
3) Do I need a threaded conduit end to install the SH106-1 service cap?
No threading required. It's a clamp-type cap, so it slips over the cut end of the 2 inch raceway and tightens down. That's the practical difference from a threaded weatherhead, which only goes onto rigid or IMC with cut threads. If your mast is EMT, the clamp type is the one you want.
4) Does the SH106-1 come as a single cap or in a multi-pack?
Sold individually, one cap per unit. If you're capping several service masts on a multi-building job, order the count you need.
