Metallics CT24B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is a white nylon cable tie like the Metallics CT24B OK for outdoor or sunlight exposure?
Use black UV stabilized ties outdoors. The CT24B is a white natural nylon tie, which is an indoor and protected-location product; natural nylon degrades under prolonged sunlight. For exposed exterior runs, rooftops, or anywhere the bundle sees direct UV, specify a UV rated black nylon tie in the same length instead.
2) What length and material is the Metallics CT24B cable tie?
The CT24B is a 24 inch nylon cable tie in white, made in the USA. Nylon is the standard body material for general purpose bundling of wire and cable runs, and the 24 inch length is one of the longer sizes, meant for large bundles, conduit groups, or strapping cable to structure rather than small point-to-point ties.
3) Is the Metallics CT24B a one-time-use tie or can it be released and reused?
It's a standard one-piece nylon tie with a fixed pawl in the head, so it ratchets closed and stays closed. To remove it you cut it. If an electrician needs to open and re-dress a bundle repeatedly during rough-in or for future circuit adds, use a releasable or reusable tie, or hook-and-loop strapping, rather than a fixed nylon tie like this one.
4) Does the Metallics CT24B come as a single tie or in a bag?
Cable ties of this type are packaged in bulk bags, not singly, so expect a quantity pack of CT24B ties rather than one tie per order. There is a single model on offer, CT24B, the 24 inch white nylon version, so the only thing to confirm when ordering is the pack quantity you need for the job.
