For water and hydronic work on carbon steel pipe you want plain MegaPress rather than the G series, since the sealing element differs between the two.
3) Will a MegaPressG elbow work on my existing black iron gas pipe, or do I have to re-thread?
No re-threading. The 25206 presses directly onto 3/4 inch carbon steel pipe, so a cut and clean end is all the prep the corner needs. That is the whole point of the press system for anyone retrofitting a threaded gas run in an occupied building, no pipe dope, no cutting threads on site.
4) Can I mix a MegaPressG elbow into a copper or PEX system?
No. The 25206 is a carbon steel fitting sized for 3/4 inch carbon steel pipe, and the press profile is specific to that. Copper press work needs a copper press fitting, and PEX needs its own. If you are transitioning between materials, that happens at a dedicated transition fitting, not at this elbow.
