Viega 28610 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Viega 28610 elbow copper or steel?
Carbon steel. The MegaPressG 28610 is a carbon steel press fitting, so it belongs on carbon steel pipe, not on copper tube. If the run is copper you want a copper press or sweat elbow instead. Carbon steel also means the joint is not for potable water service the way a copper or stainless fitting would be.
2) Does the Viega 28610 elbow come with the seal, or do I order that separately?
The 28610 is a complete MegaPressG elbow with the Smart Connect feature built into the fitting, so there is no separate seal or gasket to buy. What you do need on the job is the press tool and a 4 inch jaw or ring and actuator, plus a deburring tool and a depth marker for the pipe ends. Those are tools, not parts of the fitting.
