The MegaPressG 26021 reduces 1-1/2 inch to 3/4 inch. The connections are FTG x P, meaning the 1-1/2 inch end is a fitting (male) end that slips into another press fitting, and the other end is a press socket that accepts 3/4 inch pipe.
2) Does the FTG end on the Viega 26021 accept pipe, or does it go into another fitting?
It goes into another fitting. The connection is FTG x P: the 1-1/2 inch FTG end is sized to insert into the press socket of another 1-1/2 inch MegaPress fitting, so you cannot press pipe into that side. Only the 3/4 inch P end takes pipe. If you need both ends to receive pipe, order a press x press reducer instead.
3) Can I use the MegaPressG 26021 to drop from a 1-1/2 inch gas main to a 3/4 inch appliance branch?
That is the transition this reducer makes, 1-1/2 inch down to 3/4 inch in carbon steel for black pipe systems. Note the 1-1/2 inch side is an FTG end, so it lands inside an existing 1-1/2 inch MegaPress socket rather than onto bare pipe. Size and set the sealing element per Viega's press procedure for the pipe you are joining.
4) Is the Viega 26021 MegaPressG fitting steel or copper?
