Viega 26545 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Should I order a street elbow or a regular 45 with two press ends?
Pick the street version, model 26545, when the 45 has to land directly into another fitting's press socket, such as off a tee or coupling. If both ends of the turn are pipe, use a 45 with two press sockets instead. Ordering the street elbow where you needed press x press leaves you one end you cannot connect to pipe.
2) What is Smart Connect on this Viega elbow and does it change how I install it?
Smart Connect is a feature of the MegaPress 45 degree street elbow that makes an unpressed connection show itself during pressure testing instead of staying hidden. It does not change the install steps, but it is the reason crews can test a run and find a missed joint before closing walls.
3) Is the Viega 26545 MegaPress fitting made in the USA?
It is made in Germany. For federal, state or institutional jobs with domestic sourcing language in the spec, that is the detail to check against your procurement requirements before you commit the order.
