Red Dot 2CCT – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Red Dot 2CCT cover fit, and how many switches does it hold?
The Red Dot 2CCT is a two-gang toggle switch cover that takes two toggle switches, and it ships with the gasket (spring/gasket pack) for sealing against the box. It mounts to two-gang Red Dot Dry-Tite style boxes and covers. If you need a cover for receptacles rather than toggle switches, this is the wrong plate.
2) Can the Red Dot 2CCT toggle switch cover be used outdoors or in a wet location?
Yes. The Dry-Tite line of boxes and covers it belongs to is rated to protect wiring devices and switches in dry, damp and wet locations, which covers exterior walls, washdown areas and unheated spaces. The included gasket is what makes that rating work, so it has to be in place and the cover drawn down evenly.
3) Will the Red Dot 2CCT cover work on a standard indoor two-gang drywall box?
No. It is built for Red Dot Dry-Tite style die cast boxes and covers, not for a sheetrock or steel device box with standard 6-32 plaster ears. Use a conventional two-gang toggle wall plate for interior drywall work and keep the 2CCT for the die cast enclosures it was made for.
4) Is the Red Dot 2CCT switch cover metal or plastic?
Die cast aluminum, finished in silver. The die cast body is what makes it a rugged protective enclosure for the devices behind it, which is why it gets specified on industrial walls, loading docks and equipment rooms instead of a stamped or molded plate.
5) Does the Red Dot 2CCT come with a gasket, or do I order that separately?
The gasket comes with the cover, so you do not need to add a separate sealing kit to make the two-gang toggle plate weather tight. It sells as each, one cover per order line.
6) I need to standardize switch covers across exterior walls on a multi-family property. Does the 2CCT help?
It does if your openings are two-gang toggle switches on die cast Dry-Tite boxes. One part number, model 2CCT, covers every two-switch exterior location, in a single silver die cast finish so the building reads consistently. Single-gang and receptacle locations need different covers from the same family.
